Where to go?

• When do you wish to travel? 

  • When the kids are off from school?

  • During a specific season (if you want to do seasonal activities)?

  • During your favorite time of year?

  • When you are allowed to take off from work?

• Are your dates flexible?

  • Sometimes, booking can be cheaper on different departure dates.

• How long do you wish to travel?

  • The further you travel, the more time you might want to spend. I would recommend 7-10 days minimum for the Caribbean destinations. For South America, Europe, Asia or Africa, 10 days+ (ideally 2 weeks+) would be best. The travel days would eat up too much of the time otherwise.

• What type of weather do you enjoy? Which one do you not like?

What would you like to do while on vacation? Check the list below for items and note the ones you are interested in. This is not an exhaustive list, but it's a start.

• Lay down on the beach or on a lounge chair, not doing anything if you don't want to.

• Do watersports (waterskiing, surfing...), diving or snorkeling, sailing, etc.

• Do winter sports (skiing, snowboarding...).

• Do a physical activity (hiking, horseback riding, ziplining, biking...).

  • What level do you need? You have never done it and want to try? Or are you more advanced and can handle more difficult levels?

• Do you want your vacation to be built around an activity?

  • Physical activity

  • Hobby/passion (wellness, yoga, photography, astronomy, music, trains, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings...)

  • Historical events (Underground Railroad, Civil War, First World War...)

• Would you like special experiences?

  • Cooking class / tasting

  • Dancing

  • Painting

  • Cultural shows

  • Picnic on the beach

  • Etc.

• Do you want to experience museums, historical sites, cultural events?

• Do you like shopping?

• Do you want to go to theme parks?

• Do you want access to a spa? 

• Are you interested in a cruise (ocean or river)?

• Do you prefer a city environment? Or a quieter place?

• Do you enjoy having lots of people around?

• Do you want to meet locals? Live like them? 

• Do you prefer big hotels, resorts? A quieter one? Or a vacation rental? 

• Do you want luxury?

• How about an all-inclusive option?

• Do you have a passport? It must be valid for 6 months after your return from the trip. It takes 8-10 weeks to get a passport.

• Is there anywhere that is a NO-NO for you? We are not talking about places that have travel restrictions, but the places you are not interested in at all.

• Do you speak another language or do you need to be where people speak at least a little English?

• Do you want to travel around or stay in one place?

• Do you want to rent a car or use local transportation?

• Do you have physical restrictions?

• Any dietary restrictions?

• Any other needs?
